About 2 years ago, we learned that Duston's Bakery at 153 Portland Avenue in Dover, NH was closing.  Sometime after that, we learned that Harvey's Bakery on Central Avenue in Dover was also closing.  Double whammy to the Garrison City for sweets and cakes of all kinds.

Every cloud has a silver lining and we are happy to learn that Dover Market & Deli is now open in the same location that Duston's used to be in, according to Foster.com.

Dover Market and Deli opened on February 6th and will offer discount beer, wine and tobacco and some craft brews as well.  You can also expect to find great snacks to go along with all that beer and wine.  You can stock up for your next party or just for a great weekend.

According to Foster's, Kevin Patel said that he was also the owner of the well known Smiley's Discount Beverage that has been at 7 Main Street in Dover for a long time.  He also has similar markets in Maine.

Duston's Closing Was Not a Big Announcement

As I recall, sometime late in 2024, Duston's had a mechanical failure and had to close.  Then, there were some legal issues that had to be dealt with before the place could change ownership and re-open.

I am looking forward to check out the place soon.  I'm sure the place will get a lot of customers with Sweet Meadows Flower and Gift Shop right next door.

All the best to the new owners!
