There are 232 United States athletes competing in the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics, according to teamusa.com, and the first games kick off on Wednesday, February 4.

If you're wondering which competitors are from New England, there are 30 of them, ranging from skiers to skaters to ice hockey players.

When Is the First 2026 Winter Olympic Game Featuring a New England Athlete?

Team USA's first game takes place on Day 2, Thursday, February 5, with a mixed doubles curling match against Norway at 4:05 a.m. EST, and that also happens to be the first game featuring a New England athlete: Korey Dropkin of Southborough, Massachusetts.

According to NBC Olympics, the Boston-born curler started at age 5 and "learned his skills at Broomstones Curling Club in Massachusetts before moving to Minnesota to pursue the sport at the Olympic level."

The 31-year-old is teamed up with Cory Thiesse.

New England Athletes Competing in the 2026 Winter Olympics

There are a total of 30 competitors from New England on the Team USA roster, including 15 from Massachusetts, 5 from Connecticut, 4 from Vermont, 3 from New Hampshire, and 3 from Maine. There are none from Rhode Island.

Skiing is the sport featuring the most New Englanders at 9, though there are a variety of more specific types (cross-country, freestyle, etc.)

When Is the Opening Ceremony for the 2026 Winter Olympics?

While some of the games and training sessions start on Wednesday, February 4, the opening ceremony takes place on Friday, February 6.
