What better way to close out the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy than with a close ice hockey match-up between the United States and Canada?
Team USA pulled off the victory, earning the gold medal and solidifying its second-place position in the medal count during the games at 33.
And to make it even more exciting for New Englanders, four players celebrating that epic accomplishment are from the area: Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Who from New England Is on the U.S. Men's Ice Hockey Team for the Winter Olympics 2026?
The four New England men playing for Team USA are:
- Matt Boldy of Millis, Massachusetts
- Jack Eichel of North Chelmsford, Massachusetts
- Noah Hanifin of Norwood, Massachusetts
- Tage Thompson of Orange, Connecticut
All four players scored at least once in the multiple games of the tournament.
Boldy scored the first goal of the final game against Canada, while Eichel scored a goal against Slovakia in the semi-finals.
Thompson also scored a goal in the Slovakia game, and Hanifin scored against Denmark.
These four New Englanders rose to the moment and left their mark on Team USA’s golden finish.

In the end, Team USA pulled off the victory.
The first goal belonged to Boldy, who was able to split the defenders and score against the Canadian goaltender.
Canada would tie it up in the second period, and the teams would remain deadlocked in the third, sending it into sudden-death overtime.
Ultimately, it would be Team USA to score the final score and secure the epic win.
