On July 4, 2026, America will celebrate it's 250th Anniversary.  Part of the celebrations include burying a time capsule to be opened 250 years from now in 2276!  What?!  Doesn't that seem crazy??  BTW, if you're reading this somehow in the year 2276, Hi.  I'm Sarah and I was living in 2026.  Now we're connected.  Cool.

According to america250.org, New Hampshire chose three items for the time capsule:

  • A picture, on special paper to survive the next 250 years, of the center emblem of a flag carried by the 2nd NH Regiment of the Continental Army.
  • A brochure of the events hosted by the NH Historical Society in 2026 along with a timeline of major events in New Hampshire's Revolutionary history.
  • A poster from all the events scheduled for July 4, 2026 in Concord.

America's Time Capsule has already been sealed and it's ready to be buried, but, I was wondering if you had a chance to pick what New Hampshire would contribute what would it be?

A Microphone or Picture of the Staff From WMUR-TV in Manchester

WMUR is the only TV station in the state and has been forever, except for that one time when we had the WNDS in Derry, right?  So, it might be a great idea to grab a microphone or maybe a picture of the staff?  The station has been keeping us informed for a long time.

Velcro

The headquarters for Velcro is in Manchester.  The generic name for that is "hook and loop" but everyone knows it as Velcro.  How many times have you used Velcro?  In my house, it's everywhere.

What do you think should have been included in the time capsule?
