Wow.  You know you bleed the Granite State when the NHDOT names a plow after you.

Congratulations to Kevin Skarupa who had the honor of getting a New Hampshire Department of Transportation plow named after him.

Introducing the SKARUPA SNOWSCOOPAH.  I LOVE it.

Kevin's plow was one of 7 plows that were named in 2026.  The other names, according to WMUR were:

  • Wicked Plowah
  • Sled Zeppelin
  • WinniPLOWsaukee - After Lake Winnipesaukee
  • The Blizzard Lizard
  • Plowabunga  - A nod to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles who were born right here in Dover, New Hampshire - #truestatement.
  • Happy Plowmore - After New Hampshire's own Adam Sandler's classic movie Happy Gilmore, of course.  This is the 2nd honor for Adam; last year, another plow was named "Adam Sander."
  • This is the second year of the contest.  In 2025, the DOT named a plow after Fritz Wetherbee who retired last year from WMUR; Fritz Plowerbee, "I'll Tell You the Story."

This is such a fun thing to do, I'm sure they will continue for years to come.  There are a few rules you have to follow like, the name can't be more than 20 characters so it can fit on the plow itself and, of course, it has to have everything to do with New Hampshire.  Here are a couple that I thought might work.

  • Live Free and Plow  (State Motto)
  • Old Man of the Plow  (A nod to the Old Man of the Mountain, RIP)

Cute, right?  Maybe we'll submit them next year with other names for the radio station.

You have to submit your name by November 29 and voting begins in January. Here are all the links that you need.
