It is the tallest peak in New England. It is a hiking icon with some of the worst weather in the world. You can summit the peak by car, train, or of course...the good old-fashioned hiking way
Mount Monadnock, Jaffery, New Hampshire
Mount Monadnock is widely considered the most climbed mountain in the world. Because it is in the western part of the state, it may not get as much clout as the Mount Washingtons of the world.
Don't let that fool you - people from all over New England travel to complete this manageable summit with a view of Boston's skyline.
Mount Major, Alton, New Hampshire
Mount Major is the easiest of the Mount Rushmore hiking mountains. With an easy 2-mile hike to the top, the summit brings gorgeous views of Lake Winnipesaukee.

The fourth head on Mount Rushmore is Abe Lincoln. This last mountain could have been a variety on the Franconia Ridge: Little Haystack, Mount Lafayette, etc. But since the name fits, and it is all a part of the same ridge, we will give it to Mount Lincoln.
