The dead body of a male was found at on a beach in Rye on the Fourth of July.

Rye Police Chief Kevin Walsh said that a call was received about an "incident" early in the morning on Wallis Road Extension, which led officers to find the body.

Walsh did not disclose the identity of the male or the circumstances of the incident, but said there was no threat to the public.

"We extend our condolences to the family and friends affected by this unfortunate event," Walsh wrote.
