Celebration of Life Held to Honor Security Office William Haas

On Monday night, a celebration of life honored the memory of former Franklin police chief Bradley before his funeral.

Haas was killed by gunman John Madore in the lobby of New Hampshire Hospital in Concord on November 17 while working as a security officer. Madore was shot by an on-duty New Hampshire State Police trooper.

"Bradley, know that wherever you are, the state of New Hampshire is grateful for you," Governor Chris Sununu said as around 1,000 people gathered to remember the veteran law enforcement officer.

The retired chief was honored with a procession through the city of Franklin to the celebration held at Winnisquam High School in Tilton.

"It's important to me to be here and for my colleagues to be here, to recognize that while we spend our lives in the service of others, few of us actually have to give them in the service of others," New Hampshire State Police Capt. Brendan Davey told NBC Boston after the ceremony. "We want to honor his sacrifice in every way."

Haas' funeral will be private.
