Dover, New Hampshire, Man Charged in Threat to GOP Presidential Candidate

A Dover man has been charged in connection with sending a text message to a presidential candidate's campaign promising to kill everyone who attended.

U.S. Attorney Jane E. Young said Tyler Anderson, 30, received a text from the campaign about an event scheduled in Portsmouth on December 11. Anderson responded "Great, another opportunity for me to blow his brains out!” and “I’m going to kill everyone who attends and then f*** their corpses.”

The identity of the candidate was not disclosed by Young. The complaint in the case obtained by Seacoast Current show the text promoted an event at 8:30 a.m. in Portsmouth, which would include breakfast.

The complaint shows that Anderson sent the message on Friday morning. Federal agents went to his home on Central Avenue in Dover Saturday and seized his phone. Firearms were also found in the residence, according to the documents.

During an interview with members of the Dover Police Department, Anderson admitted sending the messages and admitted sending similar messages to other presidential candidates. Threatening messages to other presidential candidates were found in a deleted message folder on Anderson's phone, according to the complaint.

Confirmation of candidate's ID by several outlets

A candidate schedule posted by NBC Boston shows the only candidate with an event scheduled in Portsmouth on Monday morning is Republican Vivek Ramaswamy at the Roundabout Diner.

The Ramaswamy campaign confirmed to NH Journal the entrepreneur was the intended target.

Anderson's initial court appearance is scheduled in federal court in Concord Monday afternoon.
