Maine High School Student Dies in Rochester, NH, Crash

A Sanford High School senior died in a car crash on Salmon Falls Road in Rochester Wednesday night.

Rochester Police did not disclose many details of the crash on Salmon Falls Road in the area of Ida Circle and Tara Estates, except to say it involved one vehicle. Two other passengers in the vehicle were not seriously injured, according to police.

Sanford School District Superintendent Matt Nelson identified the victim as Lydia Ashline, a member of the class of 2024.

"We are shocked and saddened by this tragic event. Nelson wrote in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family during this time of loss and grief."

Nelson said special counseling services will be available to student on Friday and as long as needed.
