Meet the Seacoast’s First Babies of 2023 in New Hampshire and Maine

At least three Seacoast region hospitals had babies born the morning of New Year's Day on Sunday, including two born within two minutes of each other.

The first baby born in 20 was Noah Henry Frost at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, who entered the world at 5:18 a.m. weighing 7 lbs and 10 oz. Parents Cory and Virginia Frost and Noah are doing well, according to hospital spokesman Adam Bagni.

Next up was Mackenzie Barbaro, who arrived at Portsmouth Regional Hospital at 7:53 a.m. to parents Bethany and Adam Barbaro of Hampton Falls, according to hospital spokeswoman Ellen Miller. Mackenzie weighed 10 pounds, 5 ounces.

Arriving two minutes later at York Hospital was Moses Steven Smith at 7:55 a.m. to parents Lauren & Mark Smith of Lebanon at 7 lbs. 1 ounce and 19.5 inches, said hospital spokeswoman Jean Kolak. Moses is the couple's first child. Father Mark prepared the rest of their family, dogs Tod, Barbara Jean, and Alfred, for the arrival of Moses by bringing his blanket for them to sniff.

Moses was actually due on Christmas Day, but waited to make his arrival on the the next major holiday.
