Woman Seriously Injured in Plaistow, New Hampshire, Crash

A car went off a Plaistow road, with the driver suffering serious traumatic injuries Saturday afternoon.

Plaistow Fire Chief Chris Knutsen told Seacoast Current the driver, a 40-year-old woman, went off Forrest Street around 4 p.m. Bystanders had removed the woman from the vehicle in the three-and-a-half minutes it took for paramedics to arrive.

WMUR reported the woman went off the road at a sharp curve and hit a row of trees.

The woman was flown by medical helicopter to Tufts Medical Center in Boston. Her condition was unknown Sunday afternoon.

Knutsen praised first responders for their quick response, which had the woman on board the helicopter in 17 minutes from when the 911 call was first received.

"Traumatic injuries require fast surgical intervention to increase survivability. Our fast response times are a direct correlation to the support we receive from our taxpayers. Having personnel that are trained, equipped, and prepared at the station allow us to make a difference every single day," Knutsen said in a statement.
