This amazing story comes fresh from Massachusetts just last spring.

I was scrolling through my phone when I saw this incredible piano playing. I noticed it was two things I love: Boston and The Lumineers.

The man playing the piano was Sam Spencer. He was playing a seemingly public painted piano in downtown Boston. For a few weeks, Sam Spencer noticed that the piano was usually occupied by a Bostonian or someone visiting the city, but not on this particular Tuesday, according to a CBS news article.

So, Sam used that open piano as a sign, and headed over to play. Immediately, I could tell it was the song "Ophelia" by The Lumineers. A classic.

Little did Spencer know that The Lumineers were actually listening to him, as they were in town for a show at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts.

In the video, band member Jeremiah Fraites is seen standing behind Boston's Sam Spencer. He even joins Spencer, playing the piano together, for a bit of the song.

"He came up behind me and he was like, 'oh that's a good song man.' And I said 'thanks!' Now I feel embarrassed because it's his song!" Spencer said to CBS News.

After a wholesome moment where Sam Spencer had no clue who the band member was, Fraites invited the Boston piano player to see The Lumineers live a few days later.

"His music has inspired me so much and meant a lot to me and my friends," Spencer said to CBS News. "I have entire vacations in my head that are just to the soundtrack of the Lumineers, when I think of the memories of those trips."
