New Hampshire Walmart Shoppers Warned Of Parking Lot Scam

Next time someone approaches you about a purchase, there are a few steps you might want to take.

You've recently checked out at Walmart, and continue out to the parking lot. (Target shoppers have also been victims of this recent scam) You have a brand new big screen TV, and you're pumped! You're about to open the hatch of your vehicle, when someone who resembles a store employee runs up. They demand to see a proof of purchase. Well, easy...you have the receipt in your hand, so in a post purchase buzz, you hand it over. Then, they say there's a problem, and head back into the store.

You've been scammed.

According to WGME, law enforcement say scammers are impersonating Walmart employees and approaching customers in the parking lot. Officials said the suspects take the receipt, head into the store and use it to shoplift the items listed. Customers purchasing electronics most often the targets.

If this happens to you, law enforcement officials say check for valid identification like an employee badge.
