NH Drought Map Unleashes Low Blow To Seacoast
After seeing some significant rainfall over the past couple of weeks, I was sure that the EXTREME DROUGHT would be stricken from today's map update. Instead, it struck back!
Despite some stretches of recent tropical downpours, the extreme drought conditions that dogged us all of this past summer will not let up!
I was surprised to see that 22% of The Granite State is now considered to be experiencing 'Extreme Drought'.
I'll be honest, the drought really doesn't affect me much (other than my obsession with it). UNLESS it gets to the point that it is now.
The only thing that affects my day to day life concerning it is drinking water quality. Back in early September, even my Brita water filter couldn't completely clear up the swampy funk that happens to the city reservoir after 3 months with no rain.
Thankfully though, after a couple rainy nights, the funk had recently gone away.
That's why I was convinced that we must have escaped THE EXTREME.
WRONG.
Much like the desert-like summer of 2018, we are way behind the 8-ball. I can recall thinking back then that we'd never get out of the arid climate.
But, much like Rocky Balboa in any of the six films that bear his name, we need to rally!
And sure enough, just like he did against Apollo Creed twice, Clubber Lang, Ivan Drago, Tommy Gunn and Mason Dixon, NH rallied in 2018.
And it looks like we're ready to do it again.
Look at next week! FOUR DAYS OF RAIN IN THE FORECAST.
Let's GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
