Three weeks after Gov. Chris Sununu was admitted to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with a bleeding ulcer that required a blood transfusion he will be speaking during a dinner banquet at the California Republican Party’s Fall 2021 Convention.

Sununu was admitted to the hospital on Sept. 3 after reporting lingering flu-like symptoms. He was released on Sept. 4.

A staff member on Wednesday confirmed that Sununu has been cleared for flying in an airplane for the trip out west.

Sununu was scheduled to leave on Wednesday evening and will return to New Hampshire on Saturday, according to a statement from staffers at his office.

The website for the Republican convention has Sununu speaking at a dinner scheduled for 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Friday. The event will take place at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego.

Dinner on Saturday will be with Congressman Burgess Owens, R-Utah.

Sununu's staff members say no taxpayer funds will be used to finance the trip.
