NH State Run COVID-19 Testing Centers to Close

New Hampshire's state managed COVID-19 testing sites will close for good on Tuesday, March 15.

The news comes as the number of active cases stands at 984, the lowest number since August, according to the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services. There are just 52 hospitalizations statewide.

The six locations around the state including the Mall at Fox Run in Newington were opened during the early days of the winter surge in October, offering tests seven days a week with a roughly 48 hour turnaround.

It will close at 3 p.m. along with centers in Belmont, Claremont, Keene, Lincoln, Manchester, and Nashua.

Since a rush around the Christmas holidays for testing, COVID-19 cases have decreased and so has the demand for testing.

“This is a significant milestone,” Gov. Chris Sununu said in a statement. “Since the very beginning of this pandemic, the state worked hard to open up access to testing. Over the last two years, members of our National Guard, volunteers, local EMS departments, and nurses and doctors have helped stand up our state-run testing sites, and we cannot thank them enough for their tireless work.”

COVID-19 testing is still available at 90 locations in New Hampshire including hospitals, healthcare provider practices, pharmacies, and urgent care centers.

State liquor stores also have rapid antigen tests available for sale. The state also offers free tests at learn.vaulthealth.com/nh/.
