If you visited York's Wild Kingdom and Amusement Park in Maine any time in the last 15 years, chances are you've laid eyes on Rewa. The larger than life white Bengal tiger has been the premiere attraction in the zoo portion of York's Wild Kingdom for a decade and a half. But age comes for all of us, even majestic beasts, which led to York's Wild Kingdom making a difficult announcement on Wednesday.

Shared on Facebook, York's Wild Kingdom announced that Rewa had succumbed to old age in the zoo's offseason. York's Wild Kingdom made the announcement prior to their opening for the 2020 season so visitors weren't surprised when they didn't see the familiar white Bengal tiger.

Many commenters on the York's Wild Kingdom shared their favorite memories of Rewa while visiting the park. Rewa was known for being quite friendly and rambunctious, and often putting herself in perfect photo-op positions. Many visitors of the park proclaimed that they would miss her dearly.

The 2020 summer will be a trying time for York's Wild Kingdom. The amusement park portion will be closed for the entirety of the season leaving only the zoo portion to draw in visitors. The park must abide by strict regulations on social distancing and is requiring guests to wear masks, leaving some to wonder whether York's Wild Kingdom can make it through this year.

For the first time ever, the zoo is accepting donations to ensure that they can make it through the 2020 season and beyond. For more details, visit this website.
