Rochester NH Reigns Supreme At Tom Kittredge Memorial Baseball Tourney

Congratulations to the champion baseball teams from The Lilac City! Rochester hoisted three of the five available trophies at this weekend's 15th Annual Tom Kittredge Memorial Invitational at Roger Allen Park.

Wow! Talk about home cooking!

The yearly tournament features New Hampshire teams from Cal Ripken Baseball and the teams are comprised due to their age. Age 8 and Under through 12 and Under were the five trophies up for grabs this weekend.

Over four days the teams played each other in 'pools', then, were ranked based upon their record for an intense single elimination tourney.

It's pretty amazing to see 8 year old kids play actual baseball with no tees and no coaches pitching. For a lot of these put outs, the ball must be pitched, hit, fielded and thrown to first, then caught.

With any memories I have of playing organized baseball at this age, none of these things ever happened.

My nephew Colin, pictured standing, second from the right above, has now won two baseball championships in NINE days. His regular season team, Budel Construction, won the city championship last Friday.

The photo above features the Rochester NH 11U team that beat Quintown last night in the Championship game. Quintown is a team that has players from eight different towns in the general area between Kingston and Chester NH.

My twin nephews, Caleb, pictured bottom left, and Connor, standing, third from left have now won so many baseball trophies that it's tough to keep track of.

In their 7-5 win against Exeter in the semifinal, this team got out of a bases loaded jam with a strikeout, a force play at the plate and another force at second with no runs scored.

Very impressive heads up baseball!

Congratulations to the 10U team from Quintown that won the trophy and the 12U Champion, Dover.

Four days, seven fields and dozens of teams and it all ran so smoothly.
