A Silver Alert was issued early Thursday morning for a Hampstead man suffering from dementia who walked away from his home and did not return.

New Hampshire State Police said John Matson, 79, left his home on Amy Lane around 3:30 p.m.. His wife reported him missing around 12:20 a.m. Thursday morning.

John Matson was last seen wearing a red, white, and blue shirt and gray shorts. He is 6 feet tall and 180 pounds with gray hair, a gray beard, and blue eyes.

State Police asked anyone with information about Matson's whereabouts to call Hampstead Police at 603-329-5700.
