Smuttynose Brewing Company in Hampton has partnered with the University of New Hampshire to create a lager which will help support the college's brewing science lab in Durham.

Marc Sedam, managing director of UNHInnovation, said the brewing science program at UNH started in 2016. The college and Smuttynose partnered together to create a limited edition beer called 1866 at that time.

UNH was founded in 1866, so it was brewed to celebrate the college's 150th anniversary.

"That went very well and we decided to come back and work with them on a product that would be developed and sold year-round," Sedam said in a video released by the college.

The new beer, Wildcat Tracks, was developed by Smuttlabs Head Brewer Charlie Ireland and made by a team led by Head Brewer Dan Schubert. It has a juicy aroma and subtle hop character, according to a press release.

Colleen Lynch graduated from UNH in 2017 and works in marketing and social media at Smuttynose. She describes the beer as "really crushable" in the video.

"It can be enjoyed by alumni from the 50s to alumni from this current year," Lynch said.

The UNH Brewing Science Laboratory is a fully equipped professional beverage manufacturing facilty. The college offers a brewing science minor for students.

Smuttynose and UNH encourage responsible drinking.
