That's SIX World Championship Golds now for Mikaela Shiffrin. The two time Olympic Gold Medalist is still only 25 years old and has more World Champ gold medals than any skier in American history. I'm here to campaign that she is truly a Granite Stater!

The list of hardware that Mikaela Shiffrin has won would probably stretch out over 3,281 feet (which is same exact length of the vertical descent in a typical Alpine International skiing event.)

She has SIXTY EIGHT World Cup Wins, with 44 in slalom alone. Just another remarkable fact from this current World Championship? The gold that she won yesterday? Isn't even her strong suit.

She hasn't even competed in slalom yet! I have to think the entire International field of competitors are shaking in their collective boots at the prospect of trying to keep up with her, literally and figuratively.

Here is my argument that she should be called 'A Granite Stater'.

Her family moved to Lyme, NH when was she was 8 years old and she skied in the rugged terrain of Grafton County (and across the border in Vermont) for the next 5 years!

At the age of 14 she first won the slalom at The Topolino Games in Italy! I'm pretty sure she was still a New Hampshire resident at that time.

I don't know the first thing about skiing, HOWEVER, I have learned from my friends and family that do ski.

They all claim that wiping out in New England really hurts, while wiping out in The Rockies just feels like you're falling into a fluffy cloud.

I have to think that since Mikaela Shiffrin's formative years of skiing were spent here, under those rough and tumble conditions, that it greatly helped to transform her into an all time champion.

Therefore, she is a Granite Stater!

CASE CLOSED.
