Take your bird feeders down, folks! No really, they should come down by April 1st per New Hampshire Fish and Game. Black Bears are up and about and after a long nap this Winter these dudes and gals are famished. Though berries and green vegetation are getting less scarce as we get closer to Summer, Black Bears are still a wandering around looking for any food they can get their paws on.

According to NewsCenterMaine, one ambitious Black Bear made the 50 mile trek from Massachusetts to New Hampshire recently. Perhaps he was trying to walk off that Winter weight? Hibernation can be tough for all of us but I'm sure this bear looks beautiful at any size. #BearBodyPositvity

The news site stated that the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife tagged this adventurous bear on May 17 and released it in Barre, Massachusetts. The bear considered himself more of a Granite Stater than a Masshole so he headed north on his pilgrimage. He made pretty good time too because ten days later he was spotted in Nashua, New Hampshire. The article goes on to explain that the bear was hanging in a non bear friendly part of town. It was very congested and dangerous. He was immobilized and later taken to a wildlife management area in central New Hampshire.

Though this bear wound up in the wrong area, I am proud of him and his journey. I shall name him Gulliver in honor of his impressive travels.

BTW: If you need any tips on how to bear proof your property News Center Maine released this very helpful video this past April:
