Police in York are aware of the incredibly unaware turkeys they've dubbed the York Corner Turkeys.

The York County Department’s Communication Center for months has been taking calls from people very worried about a couple of turkeys they see near a VERY busy intersection in York. The Spur Road and Route One intersection. The police are so aware of this pair of turkeys, they've dubbed them the York Corner Turkeys.

According to a Facebook post, these two turkeys would look for scraps along the southbound part and would sometimes wander into the intersection for what they called, 'a spirited game of Frogger.' So that wasn't working out so much and they moved down to in front of Mr. Mike's on the median!

That didn't last long. Noone was leaving any crumbs. So, they moved to Plaisted Road. Bouncing between Hannaford, the York Spur, York Street then back to Plaisted Road.

Police knew it was the same two turkeys. They've become very invested in their lives. One has a limp, and the other isn't far from its friend. They also know that people are super worried about them as they look at tad disheveled and sick. Especially with the one with a limp. Good news, they are healthy and monitored and now the police have to worry about YOU playing frogger to try and save them!

York Police pointed out that the two turkeys seem very happy and they want them to be able to live their best life. The Center for Wildlife was contacted and they say that leaving them alone is the best option. York's Animal Control Officers and Police Officers check on them a lot and every time they report back that they are healthy and happy.

Pretty remarkable considering they've been hit by cars and shooed away by people. It's the shooing that police are most concerned with...

...please, please do not walk into the intersections to shoo them along by waving your arms and yelling, “Move Turkeys!” or swinging your jacket or a blanket at them, or even try capturing them with a big Amazon box. All of these scenarios have actually happened by the way… and just so you know, the last one could be considered kidnapping. (Not really, but kinda…)

Police ask that the next time you see these two turkeys, give them a little extra room and know that they are actually doing okay. Oh, and suggesting to them that they move from our rolled-down window is just fine. At some point, they may actually listen.

Does anyone want to play Frogger now?
