Get ready for some major travel headaches as you make your way between New Hampshire and Maine via the Piscataqua River Bridge.

Construction will begin in June and it's expected to last until 2022. Both New Hampshire and Maine DOT's are planning on repairing and repaving the Piscataqua River Bridge, also known around these parts as the 'High Level Bridge.'

According to NECN, the bridge will have a number of lane closures and reduced speed limits. If you've ever tried to travel between Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Maine, you know that bridge, especially in the summertime can get very congested. So, you may want to plan on adding a few extra minutes onto your commuting time this summer. DOT officials say they will be keeping travelers updated by posting delay times on message boards throughout the summer.

Maine’s Department of Transporation spokesman, Paul Merrill, says the traffic pattern will adjust with volume and three bridge lanes will be open in both directions during peak times.

The Sarah Mildred Long Bridge is one other way to cross state lines.
