Update On New England Patriot Richard Seymour’s Hall Of Fame Ceremony

He may not have been elected to Canton, yet. But the former Patriots' Three Time Super Bowl Champion defensive lineman will finally get the ceremony he deserves this summer after a long delay.

I was so happy to read this tweet from ESPN's Mike Reiss.

In my opinion, the true beginning of the New England Patriots football season is the Patriots Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at Patriots Place. This is such a cool event and yet another example of how The Pats do things the right way.

They enshrine their Hall Of Famers, in a ceremony just outside their Hall of Fame, and this event is free for their fans to attend. It happens usually every year just as training camp begins. Of course, due to safety precautions during the pandemic last year, the ceremony wasn't held.

According to Reiss' tweet, there will be a postponement in selecting finalists for this year, thus giving more time and attention to Seymour who was elected in 2020.

After winning three championships with The Pats, Seymour was traded to Oakland after the end of the 2008 season. Seymour was not thrilled by this move to say the least and there was perceived to be bad blood between he and the franchise for quite awhile after the move was made.

I thought for sure that he would be selected as a Pro Football Hall Of Famer earlier this year and hoped that this summer would be a double enshrinement for the big man.

Alas, it wasn't meant to be this year. He could, and should, wear the gold jacket sooner than later.

Regardless, to see him on stage at Patriots Place, decked out in the red jacket this July, with hundreds of real Patriots fans cheering for him once again, will be an amazing return to Foxboro. For one of the best to ever play on the defensive line.
