Watch: Stunningly Beautiful, Graceful Drone Video of a Majestic Humpback Whale in Massachusetts
Just wait until you see this incredible humpback whale jump out of the water to try and grab a mouthful of fish. It's a simply WOW video captured just a few hundred feet above Boston's south shore.
I truly got the chills watching this video for several reasons. First of all, just seeing this beautiful, powerful mammal swimming off the New England coast near Plymouth, Massachusetts, feels like a blessed moment to see from above.
Secondly, I've been out on SCUBA boats twice now in Bermuda, and when we were getting ready to dive in, whales appeared. We would actually follow them in the boat as far as we could and experience this unexpected, emotional, beautiful moment as they appeared in and out of the water next to each other in stunning unison.
Lastly, it puts our life in perspective knowing that we co-mingle on this planet with such majestic creatures. Environmentally, we have so much say in our waters, and this is such a perfect example of how crucial it is to respect our oceans far and wide, small and local.
Here's the video captured by Tom Sleeper that went viral, so you can watch again and again. WCVB Boston aired this video which I grabbed off of YouTube.
Whale watching trips and spotting whales in New England isn't that uncommon, but views like this feel out of the movies. Earlier this summer, a Boston TV station took aerial footage of their news helicopter of an endangered, rare right whale swimming off the coast of New Hampshire. Absolutely breathtaking.
