What’s Wrong with This Picture?

Here's some frightening evidence that the brain sees what it wants to see. I've been looking at these checks for weeks and never picked up on a VERY obvious mistake.

It wasn't until I attempted to write my first check that I picked up on the fact that my last name was spelled wrong. L-A-P-I-E-R-R-E not L-A-T.

Thankfully, the fine folks at Clarke American were very understanding and helpful, I'll see the properly spelled replacement in the mail very soon with no extra charge.

Just a month ago, I was losing my mind over what a thought was a misspelling of Berenstain Bears due to the supposed 'Mandela effect'.

And now, I can't even detect a misspelling of my own name!
