A deal for HQ2 fell through, but the retail giant will reportedly be setting up a new distribution center in the closed NECCO factory.

New England Confectionery Company Factory, also known as NECCO will house a new tenant. According to a Tweet by Revere, Mass Mayor Brian Arrigo, "One of the world’s largest companies and undisputed giant of e-commerce is coming to Revere" Online behemoth Amazon will open a new state-of-the-art distribution center at the former NECCO site. Per the Tweet, it's expected to create hundreds of jobs, but first Amazon will have to invest tens of millions in renovations.

Less than two tears ago, the iconic factory shut down, leaving 230 people suddenly unemployed. According to NECN, employees picked up their paychecks the Friday of the shutdown, and that was it. When it closed, NECCO was the oldest candy company in the United States, according to Wikipedia.

Upon opening as a distribution center, it is expected to be the largest employer in the city,
