Con artists are attempting to steal your information through bogus “delivery failure notification” emails.

Scammers are trying to take advantage of the holiday spirit by targeting people sending out packages this season.

The Federal Trade Commission has been alerted to a scam email that is making the rounds on the internet.

The con artists send a fake "delivery failure notification" email to potential victims that looks like it is from the U.S. Postal Service. It claims you missed a delivery and tells you to download a form and take it to the post office; or click a link for more details.

Either way you will get a virus or malware and have important information taken from you.

Here is how to easily spot this scam:

  • It tells you to click on a link or download an attachment
  • It urges you to take immediate action
  • It asks you to “re-confirm” personal or financial information

Also, if you hover over the link in the email, it won’t show the official website of the supposed sender (aka the U.S. Postal Service website.)
