Billy Idol Prepares for Busy 2014 with Special Warm-Up Show – Concert Photos
Billy Idol is hitting the road in advance of his forthcoming memoir ‘Dancing With Myself: The Autobiography.' We caught up with the singer at the Casino Ballroom in Hampton Beach, N.H., his last stop before leaving for a huge European tour.
Idol's set boasted all of his best-known hits, from ‘Rebel Yell’ and ‘White Wedding’ to ‘Dancing With Myself’ and ‘Flesh For Fantasy,’ along with a healthy dose of more recent material -- all delivered with Idol's signature lip-sneering, fist-pumping enthusiasm. Though nearing 60, he's still an evocative performer on stage, engaging with fans and displaying infectious energy through every riff and drumbeat.
Idol's overseas dates will continue into July. A complete concert schedule is available via his website.
Meanwhile, Idol is preparing a new album, to be released following the October arrival of ‘Dancing With Myself: The Autobiography.’ Guitarist Billy Morrison, as part of a tour diary, describes the forthcoming studio effort as "classic Idol, with modern touches, amazing production and really good song-writing.”
This New Hampshire set, which included the previously unheard 'Whiskey and Pills' -- met by cheers from his loyal fans -- certainly corroborated that. It's been over nine years since Idol released his last album, 'Devil's Playground,' so we'd say he's long overdue.
