Durham, New Hampshire Makes List Of ’50 Safest College Towns in America’

Congratulations to Durham, New Hampshire for making the top 10 in 2015's '50 Safest College Towns in America' rankings from Safewise.com.

Safewise security experts analyzed the latest FBI crime statistics available and also looked at safety related programs and initiatives in college towns to come up with 2015's '50 Safest College Towns In America.'

Durham, New Hampshire, home to the University of New Hampshire, ranked 6th on the list! Here is what Safewise said:

Located on the Great Bay and connected to the Atlantic Ocean, Durham is home to the main campus of the University of New Hampshire. In keeping with the principles of community policing, the Durham Police reach out to marginalized groups that have traditionally suffered from fraught relationships with law enforcement through the Liaison to Community Groups. Similarly, the university engages community members through its Citizen Police Academy. Not to worry though, the university police assure us that “There is no yelling, no push-ups, and no written exams,” making police outreach a fun and productive activity for community members.

Amherst, Massachusetts also made the top 10, coming in at number 8. Amherst houses the campuses of Amherst College, Hampshire College and UMASS Amherst.
