We're all still reeling from the news that Bill McDermod, the voice of The Shark on weekend nights, passed away Monday after a courageous battle with cancer. To say that weekends here will never be the same is a tremendous understatement.

I came here back in 2002 and first met Bill on a Saturday afternoon and shortly thereafter, we talked about Las Vegas. The subject of Vegas would dominate every single conversation we had for the next 12 years. Moneylines, blackjack payouts, qualities of a decent slot host, details of a wonderful cocktail waitress and ,above all, roulette strategy.

Out of all the stuff that is tacked up on my cubicle wall, the only note that hangs in 'Vegas Corner' from anyone is from Bill. On the back of this page is an AP 'kicker' story about the number 19 hitting on the roulette wheel SEVEN consecutive times. I love how he took the time to calculate the exact dollar amount, both with, and without side bets.

This past November I finally met up with him in Vegas at The Rio Hotel and Casino Sportsbook, during the middle of an NFL Sunday. He was regal in that element, like King Arthur among the many knights that were his buddies, all adorned in Patriots gear.

I'll miss you Bill. Sin City and The Shark Tank will never be the same without you.
