The Bay State's plan to save endangered rattlesnakes by breeding them and providing a home aptly named 'rattlesnake island' just may be the worst idea ever.

Boston.com is reporting the state's plan involves breeding and raising 150 snakes and setting them free on an island in the Quabbin Resovoir, which is located around New Salem, MA.

The brainiacs at the Massachusetts Department of Fisheries and Wildlife are the ones who came up with this idea and it's not going over well with the residents of New Salem. Residents are concerned that releasing 150 venomous snakes would pose a threat. No kidding! Snakes are evil.

This has the makings of a cheesy horror movie. A prequel to Snakes on a Plane. How on Earth could they think this a good idea?

This is when a scientist stands up and says, "Don't worry. The snakes are on an island. They can't swim. They won't eat you DK." Wrong.

Peter Mallet, president of the Millers River Fisherman's Association, plays the role of the open-minded rogue scientist who knows a decision like this will likely lead to death and destruction. He says, in an article with the Boston Globe, the snakes they plan to breed are ones that can swim!

If this goes to a vote, I will move to New Salem, and vote against this lunacy. There's no way the snakes won't find their way to Exeter, NH and eat me in my sleep.
