He was the voice of many Spring and Summer afternoons, and much more.

By the time I became aware of Joe Garagiola, he was more than half way through an illustrious broadcast career.

By the time he would leave the biz, he had broadcast baseball games, been a regular host of the 'Today Show', substituted for Johnny Carson as host of 'The Tonight Show', and hosted the 'Wesminster Dog Show'.

A quick poll shows that more than half of my colleagues have NO IDEA who Joe Garagiola is or was, and that's a shame.

Joe was behind the mic for some of the greatest baseball games ever, and had one of the best calls for one of the most dramatic moments in Red Sox history.

While filling in for Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show one night, his guests were John Lennon and Paul McCartney.

A-Train has memories of Joe hosting the Westminster Dog Show. That wasn't on my radar but I'm sure he pulled that off with style as well.

Rest in Peace Joe. Rest assured, you're voice is still in my head, in a good way.
