I've always heard the urban myth about the cleaning power of Coke and how "Coca-Cola can remove the rust off a bumper" but never thought about putting it to the test. As you can see from this picture below, I have the perfect baking sheet upon which to test that theory. Yeesh this thing is nasty.

A few different websites have suggested instant application, boiling(!) and soaking the pan for a little while. I actually want this to work so I'm going to soak it for 2 hours with room temperature "Original Formula". Hey Dr. Pemberton, let's make this thing shine!

And here's what it looks like now...well the top left corner anyway. Still an awful lot of elbow grease needed to remove the gunk but it removed it much easier than any of the cleaning products I've previously tried.

As shocking as this is, I still don't equate drinking Coke to drinking harmful toxic metal melting acid. It seems like every person that reaches 100 years of age either does so while ripping a daily cigar or drinking a daily Coca Cola.

I have 3 separate theories as to why this is and the first is simple genetics, you have the proper genes to reach 100 no matter what your diet may be. The second is that your body's immune system toughens up from a minimum daily requirement of "poisoning".

The final theory is that many diets leave the inside of your body in a condition similar to that of my nasty baking sheet. Coca Cola's magic corrosive properties strip away the harmful gunk and leave you singing along with Cee Lo.
