Since 2009, pedestrian deaths have increased 15 percent, and according to a new study, people distracted by texting is one of the reasons why.

The study done by the Govenors Highway Safety Association estimated that since 2010, close to two million pedestrian injuries were related to cellphone use.

Understand, I love watching people walk into walls, public fountains, even open man-hole covers as much as the next guy. If folks want to be de-tached from their surroundings, then so be it.

But it seems to me these people are missing out on something. To always have your head down instead of taking in your surroundings seems sad to me.
