Great to read Foster's and a story of sweet success from The Lilac City as the Rochester Fire Department's Pancake Breakfast more than reached it's fundraising goal for one of their own, fellow firefighter Tyler Thurber.

Tyler Thurber, 26, is a native of The Lilac City and was recently diagnosed with primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma. He began treatment earlier this month at Mass General.

The funds raised at this breakfast with help to defray the costs of his recovery time and the treatments should take around six months.

Expectations were exceeded with over 500 people served at this breakfast and the financial goal of $5000 was surpassed.

On a personal note, Tyler is a 'nephew in law' of a very good friend of mine and there is a huge Gonic contingent rooting for him as his fights this battle.

Thankfully, the prognosis for Tyler has been very positive and this is news that made the pancakes enjoyed by his many friends and family members last Sunday, all that much sweeter!
