5 Rock and Rollers Who Were Veterans
This Veterans Day, we salute those who rocked, and also served.
Johnny Cash:
Cash earned the rank of Sergeant when he served in the U.S. Air Force. His duty was intercepting codes in Germany at the outset of The Cold War.
Jimi Hendrix:
The Guitar God guitar great enlisted in the Airborne Rangers. He wasn't considered a good soldier and was given an Honorable Discharge before seeing combat.
Elvis Presley:
Elvis was at the pinnacle of his fame when he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He would achieve the rank of Sergeant before being honorably discharged.
John Fogerty:
The leader of Creedence Clearwater Revival served in the Army Reserves at the height of the Vietnam War, but would never see combat.
B.B. King:
The king of blues guitar served in the U.S. Army during World War II but mostly drove a tractor at a plantation that was growing cotton for the military.
