The Red Cross knows what they're talking about when it comes to your safety so pay attention.
Dress in layers: These layers should consist of lightweight clothing. Don't forget your hats and gloves!

Pay attention to your pets: Keep them inside and feed them a little extra as they'll burn through calories spending any amount of time outside.

Space heaters require a lot of thought:  When using a space heater, make sure it's on a level, hard surface, and keep flammable objects 3 feet or more away. Also make sure the heaters are off if you're heading out or going to bed.

Help protect your pipes: Running a trickle of water can help prevent your pipes from freezing. Think about leaving kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors open to let warmer air around the plumbing.

There are more tips from the Red Cross here.

By following these simple suggestions, you should be set to handle this cold air Mother Nature is tossing our way.
