Some New Hampshire politicians are looking to go after drug dealers and let the public know who they are in an accessible database.

Three Republican lawmakers are proposing a registry system, much like the one for sex offenders, for drug dealers in New Hampshire, according to the Associated Press. They hope that making their identities public will deter drug dealers and help protect communities.

New Hampshire has seen over 320 of its citizens die from heroin and prescription drugs in 2014, and others have died this year from drug abuse.

The American Civil Liberties Union is against the registry for being "unnecessary" and "unfair" for people who have already served time.

The bills will go through the public hearing process when the Legislature reconvenes in January.
