They love their dogs so much they erected a statue in their yard for them. Just give it back.

Who stole MacGregor The Dog?

A couple in New Castle had their prized dog statue, named MacGregor, stolen last month, which they adored since it represents the only breed of dogs they've owned: Newfoundland. It has stood with them for 18 years and had become a mascot for their neighborhood.

The devotion they had to the statue is adorable and actually pretty heartwarming. They would dress him up throughout the year and use him to honor any dogs they lost.

“Each time we lost a dog, we would take off whatever MacGregor was wearing and move him a little to the side of the entrance in remembrance.”

That is the sweetest thing for a dog lover to hear and should make whoever took the statue feel really, really bad about what they did. I mean, this nice couple just loves dressing up their dog statue for themselves and their neighbors.

The folks in the neighborhood have nicknames for him like "Captain Oliver." Why do you have to take that simple joy away from them?

I mean, come on people. He was last seen wearing an elf hat and ears. That is adorable and nothing should stop that kind of sweet thing from continuing on.

Jeff and Barbara Hughes are so desperate to find their statue that they are offering a reward for his return (they even took out an ad in the local newspaper.) Let's hope the thief gets his conscience back or some Sherlock tracks him/her down and brings them to justice.

Anyone with information can call 436-6360 to help MacGregor find his way home.
