Suspicious Package Investigation in Portsmouth [UPDATE]

(Portsmouth, NH) - Police and fire officials are investigating a suspicious package found this morning in Portsmouth.Police had blocked off the Maplewood Ave off-ramp from the Route 1 by-pass around 9 am after reports of the package found near Buzzy's Bypass Gas.  The State Police Bomb Squad used a robot to retrieve the device, which has been removed from the scene and taken to a remote location where it is expected to be detonated as a precaution. The roadway is now open to traffic.
