One Long Island icon bade farewell to another last night, when Billy Joel closed out Nassau Coliseum with a rollicking set that lasted more than three hours and included special guest Paul Simon.
This performance is reminiscent of McCartney's original performance with raw, emotive vocals that sound like very little in the way of 'digital enhancement' was used.
Something about this album cover has always freaked me out. Billy Joel's (November 1973) breakthrough features a very creepy portrait of the singer that looks like it's going to come alive and whisper something to you at any moment. But if you dare to listen to the whole album I can guarantee you will not be disappointed.
"I realize that ivory piano keys are preferred by some pianists," says Billy Joel. "But a preference for ivory keys does not justify the slaughter of 96 elephants every day."
