The World of Twitter

I love Twitter and am basically writing this blog in hopes of attaining more followers. According to several local media surveys, when I broadcast, there are about 40,000 people listening to me at any time. About twice a month for the past 4 years I have been begging people to follow me @gonictrain over the airwaves... this strategy has resulted in 174 followers.

Every February and September, a new batch of unpaid college kids will intern for us, most are on Twitter and average around 275 followers. This is not fair!! But recent studies have shown the younger demos are increasingly using Twitter and do so because of the privacy. You can lock your account so your nosy Aunt Clara will not see the tweetfest of stupidity you authored after 3 scorpion bowls last Friday.

Another great aspect of Twitter is that it's a virtual fan club . Your favorite stars are right there at your fingertips. You can direct message them or mention them, and sometimes they instantly respond to you! Sometimes it's not pleasant. One employee of ours has claimed that 'King of Queens' star Leah Remini and her Mom have gotten into Twitter fights. I love Leah Remini and couldn't think of anyone worse to pick a fight with, as she seems quite tenacious.
