The National Park Service has proclaimed the week of April 16-24, National Park Week which means you can visit our Nations parks for free.

I must admit, I hadn't ever given much thought to how many designated National Parks there were my home state of New Hampshire, but I would've guessed it was more than two.

I would have been wrong.

With all the beauty and splendor the Granite State has to offer, there are only two properties that have earned their place in the National Park club.

They are the Appalachian Trail and the home of famed sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens in Cornish, NH.

I've never been to either of these parks.

I suppose with the White Mountains an forests, our beaches, the former Old Man of the Mountain, I just assumed the Granite State had more designated National Parks.

Well, be that as it may, you can visit not only the National Parks in NH, but all of them for free this week.

With school vacations this week in Maine and Massachusetts and New Hampshire next week, it wouldn't be a bad idea.
