I was a Junior at UNH in 1985. It was the year of  of the Live Aid concerts in London and Philadelphia, along with We Are The World featuring an array of pop stars hooking up to raise millions to help the starving in Africa. Microsoft released the first version of Windows, Windows 1.0 and Compact Disc's are introduced to the public.

Bruce Springsteen released Born in the USA, Dire Straits released Brothers in Arms. You couldn't turn on the radio and not hear Duran Duran, Madonna, Phil Collins or The Cure.

The Cosby Show topped TV viewing in 1985, followed by Family Ties, Murder She Wrote and 60 Minutes.

Playing at the theaters (which cost $2.75 a ticket) were Back to the Future, Rocky IV, The Color Purple, Cocoon, and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.

A gallon of gas was $1.09, stamps were 22 cents and the average cost for a new car was $9,005.00.

Oh yeah, and let's not forget New Coke. The Coca Cola company thought it was time to try something new to head off Pepsi.  They thought wrong. The new flavor lasted 6 months before the Coca Cola company returned to it's original flavor.
