Twilight trilogy author Stephenie Meyer will be bringing her subpar story of love and mythical creatures to social media through an exclusive video series on Facebook. The shorts will be directed by a hand-picked group of female film directors.

Our timelines will no longer be safe. You could be scrolling through updates from friends and pictures of your ex-girlfriend when...BAM...Edward Cullen is right in your face. I thought the autoplaying videos were annoying, but now imagine what happens if Twilight sets a trend.

Listen. I get it. Tweens are where the cash is at and social media is ruled by these pimple-faced terrors. They may set the online trends, but it is up to us to hold back at least some of the insanity. We don’t need original videos based on literature meant for children produced in something that all of us have to use.

These kinds of moves are making me seriously consider social media alternatives like Ello, or just going outside more often.

Maybe I’ll choose the latter and spend the hours normally reserved for Facebook on some fresh air. Spend more time in nature and on self-reflection and less time pretending to like my friends’ posts. I was wrong to be so mad at the Twilight invasion because this could be a movement away from the social media trap.

The unholy marriage of Twilight and Facebook may just be the best thing for all of us.
