Why Is This New England Apple Such a Mystery?
This delicious apple is a New England native and yet nobody seems to have heard of it. This ignorance must stop at once! I shall spread the word!
The Baldwin is a fantastic crisp hearty apple with a perfect balance of sweet and tart flavor. It's as local as local can be as it originated in Boston, MA, yet it is virtually unknown. Here is my theory as to why.
First of all, it's pretty small so it tends to be looked over. And it's so delicious that they disappear so fast that people forget they were even there in the first place.
SEE? Half gone already.
