So the Patriots had one of their worst defensive games when it mattered most, and instead of emptying the bucket of eligible players, Malcolm Butler stayed on the sidelines for all but a couple of snaps in the Super Bowl.

Granted Malcolm was not having his best year. But he played throughout the season, and his experience on the big stage could have been useful.

Even if his career is only defined by the Super Bowl, he's had some good games when it counted most.

Was he sick? He did miss the flight out with the rest of the team.

So was the decision not to play a disciplinary one? If so, why dress him instead of sending him home?

There are so many questions in the wake of a loss like Sunday's. As frustrating as that is for fans, the lack of answers to the Butler question will certainly add fuel to the fire.
